New Model Announcement: She's Electric! Introducing SuperVan 4.2
We're incredibly excited to announce a brand new model project which is set to be released by us in the future and is now available to pre-order or register your interest.
The Ford Performance E-Transit SuperVan 4.2 is an electrifying demonstration of Ford’s commitment to innovation and high-performance electric vehicles. It’s anything but ordinary. It represents an upgraded edition based on the fourth iteration in a series of performance-oriented vans and features a fully electric powertrain that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in utility vehicles.
Refined from the SuperVan 4, the design of the SuperVan 4.2 is heavily focused on aerodynamics and speed, with hill climbing feats specifically in mind. A complete redesign of the aerodynamics including a lightweight carbon fiber rear spoiler, front splitter and a chassis weight reduction meant the upgraded 4.2 package was lighter, better balanced, agile, and could exert extreme amounts of downforce while still being able to cut through the air efficiently.
The refinements continued to the powertrain. By reducing the number of STARD UHP 6-phase motors from four to three, and utilizing STARD’s Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC pouch cells, the van achieves an optimal power-to-weight ratio while retaining its all-wheel-drive system with one motor powering the front and two in the rear. With over 1,050 kW (1,400 horsepower) combined discharge power at its disposal, the SuperVan 4.2 can unleash its full potential while also leveraging the battery’s new 600 kW regeneration performance for optimal energy utilization.
Everything about the package reads impressively on paper, but it counts for nothing if it doesn’t perform in reality. SuperVan 4.2 has definitely had no problems with this, already displaying incredible feats around the world.
With highly accomplished French racing driver Romain Dumas at the wheel, the Ford SuperVan 4.2 competed at the 101st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2023 finishing 1st in its division and 2nd overall, with a time of 8:47.682.
With success at Pikes Peak achieved, attention was turned to breaking records at Mount Panorama, Bathurst, which would prove to be a different challenge entirely. For two weeks the team from Ford Performance tweaked, tuned and re-engineered the SuperVan 4.2 to perform on the vastly different Mount Panorama Racing Circuit. Perhaps the most notable visual difference was a lower downforce high speed aero package, but a number of key changes were implemented overall.
On 25th February 2024, history was made at Mount Panorama during the Supercars Thrifty Bathurst 500 with the SuperVan 4.2 setting a trio of lap records, securing the benchmark time for the quickest closed-wheel vehicle, electric vehicle, and commercial vehicle to lap the 6.2-kilometre racetrack. With Dumas once again at the helm, SuperVan 4.2 lapped Mount Panorama in an electrifying time of 1:56.3247, with a top speed in excess of 300km/h achieved on both Mountain Straight and Conrod Straight. For context, the lap time was set just after the Supercars Top 10 Shootout, which finished with a pole time of 2:06.5465.
